Estamos tan acostumbrados a las imágenes que llamamos paisajes, que cuando contemplamos el mar realmente creemos que el horizonte es una línea que existe en la naturaleza. Klima desconfía de la línea del horizonte según sea necesario para definir un paisaje. Impulsado por la emoción, últimamente ha notado presencias particulares en la naturaleza y ha tenido la tentación de señalarlas, sin alterar el sentido del lugar. De esta manera, busca reconocer lo esencial, ya sea en la naturaleza o en un ser humano: un momento efímero que se puede sacar del flujo del tiempo. Las presencias en sus imágenes pueden evocar una sensación de extrañeza, ya que ha desplazado la convención visual del equilibrio, cuestionando la perfección del paisaje convencional. En estas obras, el artista no busca equiparar la belleza y la perfección, sino señalar la transmutación sobre la presentación de estados fijos en la naturaleza.
We are so used to the images we call landscapes, that when we contemplate the sea we really believe that the horizon is a line that exists in nature. Klima distrusts the horizon line as necessary to define a landscape. Driven by emotion, he has lately noticed particular presences in nature and has been tempted to point them out, without altering the sense of place. In this way, he seeks to recognize what is essential, whether in nature or in a human being: an ephemeral moment that can be taken out of the flow of time. The presences in his images can evoke a sense of strangeness, as he has displaced the visual convention of balance, questioning the perfection of the conventional landscape. In these works, the artist does not seek to equate beauty and perfection, but to point to transmutation over the presentation of fixed states in nature.
Biografía:
Fotógrafo, investigador y gestor cultural. Su trabajo se desarrolla en el ámbito del paisaje natural. Ha participado en múltiples exposiciones colectivas y muestras individuales, así como en ferias y festivales en Perú, España, Argentina y Corea del Sur. En 2017 fue invitado a participar en el Dong Gang International PhotoFestival organizado en Yeongwol, Corea, con su proyecto Paisaje: Un juego sutil. Su proyecto Ephemera, 2019, fue nominado a los Foam Paul Huf Awards organizados por el Foam Museum en 2020. Su obra forma parte de colecciones nacionales y extranjeras.
Photographer, researcher and cultural manager. His work centers around the ideas of the natural landscape. He has participated in multiple group exhibitions and solo shows, as well as fairs and festivals in Peru, Spain, Argentina and South Korea. In 2017 he was invited to participate in the Dong Gang International PhotoFestival, organized in Yeongwol, Korea, with his project Landscape: A Subtle Game. His project Ephemera, 2019, was nominated for the Foam Paul Huf Awards organized by the Foam Museum in 2020. His work is part of private and institutional collections both within Peru, and internationally.
