Partiendo de la exploración de la técnica artesanal del telar, las piezas se crean desde cortes, agujeros o grietas en el tejido; espacios vacíos que dejan visible la estructura de la urdimbre. A través de los vacíos, se acentúa la materia y el acto corporal del tejido, así como la dimensión espacial o habitable de la superficie. La porosidad y la permeabilidad de las fibras permiten el paso de la luz natural y del aire. Las piezas hacen referencia a la obra de Lucio Fontana y al concepto de espacialismo
Based on the exploration of the artisanal technique of the loom, these works are created from incisions, holes or cracks in the fabric; empty spaces that leave the warp structure visible. Through the voids, the material and the bodily act of weaving is accentuated, as well as the spatial or habitable dimension of the surface. The porosity and permeability of the fibers allow for the passage of natural light and air. The pieces refer to the work of Lucio Fontana and the concept of spatialism.
Biografía:
Estudió arquitectura en la Universidad Ricardo Palma. Tiene una Maestría en Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Plymouth en Inglaterra y del Instituto de Piet Zwart en Róterdam, donde desarrolló una investigación sobre migración y movilidad con la cual ganó el premio de la promoción. Trabajó como arquitecto y diseñador en Róterdam, y luego en Roma junto al arquitecto italiano Massimo Fuksas. También trabajó durante un periodo corto en Nueva York y Bali junto al director de teatro Robert Wilson. Actualmente trabaja como Director Creativo en Estudio RF, donde dirige un equipo de arquitectos, diseñadores y artesanos, con quienes desarrolla distintos proyectos que integran arquitectura, diseño y arte. Bio de la colaboradora: Elvia Paucar Nació en el pueblo de San Pedro de Cajas, cerca de la pampa de Junín. Su padre fue don Santiago Paucar Amaru, un destacado tejedor nombrado en 1993 como Gran Maestro de la Artesanía Peruana, reconocimiento que dio a conocer el trabajo artesanal de San Pedro de Cajas en el mundo. Elvia aprendió con su padre la técnica del tejido a telar y con su madre, doña Jovita Orihuela, el arte del teñido con tintes naturales. Al fallecer don Santiago, Elvia tomó la dirección del taller familiar. Para ella es un orgullo mantener vigente los diseños tradicionales de su pueblo y, como su padre, explorar técnicas modernas.

He also holds an MFA degree from the University of Plymouth in England and from the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam, where he developed a project based on migration and mobility with which he won the promotion prize. He worked as an architect and designer in Rotterdam, and then in Rome with the Italian architect Massimo Fuksas. Bio of collaborator: Elvia Paucar She was born in the town of San Pedro de Cajas, near the pampas of Junín. Her father was Don Santiago Paucar Amaru, an outstanding weaver named in 1993 as Gran Maestro de la Artesanía Peruana, a recognition that made the artisanal work of San Pedro de Cajas known throughout the world. Elvia learned with her father the technique of loom weaving and with her mother, Jovita Orihuela, the art of dyeing with natural dyes. When Don Santiago passed away, Elvia took over the family workshop. She is proud to keep the traditional designs of her town alive and, like her father, explore modern techniques.
