Esta obra evoca el tiempo de surgimiento de la pandemia del Covid 19 y la manera en la que ésta afectó nuestra salud física y mental y al mismo tiempo evidenció el estado de un sistema de salud ineficiente en Perú . La artista empieza a trabajar una serie de pinturas, dibujos y videos que parten de testimonios acerca del abuso laboral, pérdida de familiares, angustia y situaciones extremas inevitables. De esta manera, reflexiona sobre el dolor y cómo las situaciones emocionales fuertes afectan partes específicas de nuestro cuerpo.
This work evokes the time of the emergence of the Covid 19 pandemic and the way in which it affected our physical and mental health, while simultaneously evidencing the inefficient health system in Peru. During this time, the artist began to work on a series of paintings, drawings and videos that are based on testimonies about labor abuse, loss of family members, anguish and inevitable extreme situations. In this way, she reflects on pain and how strong emotional situations affect specific parts of our body.
Biografía:
Artista plástica egresada con mención de honor en Pintura de la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes del Perú . Magíster en Historia del arte y curaduría de la PUCP. Ha realizado exposiciones individuales en Lima, tales como: Habitación en Lima (Museo de Arte de San Marcos, 2018), Retorno al seno (AENBA, 2018), Bajo soles mostrencos (ICPNA, 2016), entre otros. También ha participado en exposiciones colectivas entre las que destacan: Antiviral: video arte peruano reciente (CCPUCP, 2021); Carcaza bipersonal junto a María Abaddon (ICPNA – 2021); y Constituciones (Alianza Francesa, 2016). En el 2018 realizó una residencia artística en L’escale des artistes en Ile d’Oléron, Francia. En el 2019 y el 2020, junto con el colectivo Llegaron las luciérnagas, realizó unas muestras curatoriales enfocadas en la promoción de la lectura a través del arte. Es Gestora del Taller Magenta en Barranco, espacio autogestionado que se dedica a compartir diversas prácticas creativas y teóricas que envuelven discusiones estéticas de todos los tiempos. Su trabajo visual parte del retrato en vivo y la recopilación de testimonios en espacios de encierro y deriva en aspectos de convivencia en diversos contextos, profundizando en los hechos violentos actuales y cómo estos afectan nuestras relaciones mentales, afectivas y emocionales.
Visual artist, holds a bachelor degree in Painting from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes del Perú and a Master’s degree in Art History and Curatorship from the PUCP. She has had solo exhibitions in Lima, such as Habitación en Lima (Museo de Arte de San Marcos, 2018); Retorno al seno (AENBA, 2018); Bajo soles mostrencos (ICPNA, 2016); among others. She has also participated in group exhibitions such as: Antiviral: recent Peruvian video art (CCPUCP, 2021); Carcaza bipersonal with María Abaddon (ICPNA – 2021); and Constituciones (Alianza Francesa, 2016). In 2018, she completed an artistic residency at L’escale des artistes in Ile d’Oléron, France. In 2019 and 2020, together with the collective Llegaron las luciérnagas, she made some curatorial exhibitions focused on the promotion of reading through art. She is the manager of Taller Magenta in Barranco, a self-managed space dedicated to sharing diverse creative and theoretical practices that involve aesthetic discussions of all times. Her visual work is centered on the use of live portraiture and the collection of testimonies in confined spaces, in order to pose questions around aspects of coexistence in different contexts, and delve into the current violent events and the ways in which they affect our mental, emotional and affective relationships.
