Utilizando el autorretrato como medio, esta obra plantea una relación entre el proceso de introspección para el autoconocimiento y el anochecer como momento de la vida donde, por medio del sueño, viajamos al caos de nuestro subconsciente. La artista crea una escena de atardecer en el mar y presenta una serie de relaciones a través de las miradas: el ojo derecho mira al izquierdo y este mira al corazón en el centro donde se ubica una araña que mira al espectador. El mar, en distintas cosmovisiones, está representado como el lugar de origen, similar al útero, por lo que su presencia para la vida supone un momento de retorno y cuestionamiento de la identidad por medio de las emociones más profundas.
Using the self portrait as a medium, this work creates a relationship between the process of introspection and self knowledge and nighttime, as the moment in life where, through dreams, we travel to the chaos of our subconscious. The artist depicts a sunset in the sea and presents a series of relations through the gaze: the right eye looks at the left, and this eye looks straight at the heart in the center where a spider gazes at the viewer. The sea, in different cosmovisions, is represented as a place of origin, similar to the uterus. As such, its presence presupposes a moment of return and questioning of identity through the deepest emotions.
Biografía:
Artista plástica, tatuadora, escritora, editora de libros y fanzines. Fundadora del proyecto editorial gráfico Membrana ediciones (2015 – 2021) el cual ha participado en diferentes ferias en Perú y Sudamérica y es parte de colecciones y bibliotecas como el MALI en Lima, el TATE en Londres, entre otras. Ha hecho parte de los colectivos de arte y activismo enfocados en los derechos de las personas Trans racializadas en Perú, Rosa Rabiosa y Cabritas Resistiendo.Ha realizado tres exposiciones individuales y ha participado en más de diez muestras colectivas. Su trabajo se centra en representar las diferentes maneras en las que cada cuerpo, por su experiencia y su forma, se identifica y se expresa. Por medio del dibujo, el tatuaje, y la instalación, crea imágenes que confrontan las identidades de género y raciales frente a los procesos orgánicos que sufren otros cuerpos como plantas, montañas, animales y rios. De esta manera, evidenciando los procesos emocionales y físicos que atraviesan los cuerpos. Sus imágenes buscan presentar otros universos posibles en los cuales los cuerpos trans y racializados puedan existir sin tanta violencia.
Visual and tattoo artist, writer and editor. Founder of the graphic editorial platform Membrana ediciones (2015-2021), which has participated in different book fairs in Peru and South America, and is part of the collection of libraries of the MALI in Lima and the TATE in London, amongst others. She has been a part of Rosa Rabiosa and Cabritas Resistiendo, art and activist collectives focused on the rights of racialized Trans persons in Peru. She has produced three individual shows and has participated in over ten group exhibitions. Her work is centered on the representation of the different ways in which every body identifies and expresses itself, based on their distinct experiences and forms. Through drawing, tattoos and installation, she creates images that confront gender and racial identities to the organic processes that other beings, such as plants, mountains, animals, and rivers go through, making the emotional and physical process evident. Her images present other possible universes in which trans and racialized bodies exist without violence.
