Buscamos en la imaginación y recreamos desde exploraciones universos con la potencia de situaciones que la vida nos hace vivir. Algunas experiencias son espirituales o van más allá de lo corpóreo, como si fuéramos “tocados” por algo más profundo que no tiene una sola forma en la materia. La búsqueda de expresar en materia lo inmaterial.La sensación de brillo interior crea habitaciones humanas y naturales donde la oscuridad y luminosidad dialogan en espesura y potencia. No hay cabida para lo tenue. La emoción es vívida y muestra de manera encriptada su propia intimidad, un interior agreste, cálido-húmedo, donde las sensaciones finalmente no son nada sin ese resplandor que nos habita.
We search in our imagination, and recreate universes from these explorations that have the power of real life situations. Some experiences are spiritual, or go beyond the corporeal, as if we were “touched” by something deeper that does not have a single form in the material. The search to express in matter the immaterial, the sensation of inner brightness, creates human and natural rooms where darkness and luminosity dialogue in thickness and power. There is no room for the dim. The emotion is vivid and shows its own intimacy in an encrypted way; a wild, warm-humid interior, where the sensations are finally nothing without that glow that inhabits us.
Biografía:
Recibió su Licenciatura en la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú donde se graduó con honores. Ha recibido dos títulos MFA, uno en Pintura y otro en Escultura, ambos de la Facultad de Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Ha realizado numerosas exposiciones incluyendo en la Galería German Krüger Espantoso; ICPNA-Perú; Art Institute of Boston; Fitchburg Museum; Attleboro Museum; y Brattleboro Museum, entre otras. Su trabajo ha sido presentado internacionalmente en galerías y museos en Japón, Grecia, e Italia. Sus exposiciones han sido revisadas en publicaciones como The Boston Globe, Artscope Magazine, El Comercio y muchas otras. Su fotografía y trabajo en medios mixtos en colaboración con el artista Andrew Mroczek (Barboza-Gubo & Mroczek) ha aparecido en Artsy, The World de PRI, The Huffington Post, The Advocate, The Houston Press, El Comercio (Perú), Lenscratch, y varias otras fuentes de noticias. Barboza-Gubo y Mrotzek han tenido en los últimos años numerosas exposiciones individuales en importantes galerías y museos como The Museum of Sex en Nueva York, Museo arte Contemporáneo MAC Perú, Museo de la Memoria LUM Perú, Inter Kultur Foto Art, Instituto Francés de Stuttgart, Alemania, Museo Colonial de Bogotá, Colombia y muchos otros. Han recibido importantes premios como la Beca de fotografía 2019 Mass Cultural Council, Photolucida Critical Mass 2018, entre otros. Barboza-Gubo actualmente enseña en el Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Received his degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, where he graduated with honors. He also holds two MFA titles, one in painting and the other in sculpture, both from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. He has exhibited in several galleries and institutions, including Galería German Krüger Espantoso; ICPNA-Perú; Art Institute of Boston; Fitchburg Museum; Attleboro Museum; and Brattleboro Museum, among others. His work has been shown internationally in Japan, Greece, and Italy. His exhibits hve been reviewed in specialized publications such as The Boston Globe, Artscope Magazine, El Comercio and many others. His photographic and mixed media work, done in collaboration with the artist Andrew Mroczek (Barboza-Gubo & Mroczek) has been featured in Artsy, The World of PRI, The Huffington Post, The Advocate, The Houston Press, El Comercio (Perú), Lenscratch, as well as several other media outlets. Barboza-Gubo y Mrotzek have been invited to numerous individual exhibitions in important museums, such as The Museum of Sex in New York, the Museo Arte Contemporáneo MAC in Peru, the Museo de la Memoria LUM in Perú, Interkultur Foto Art, the French Institute in Stuttgart, Germany, the Museo Colonial in Bogotá, Colombia, and many others. They have received important awards such as the Mass Cultural Council photography grant in 2019, Photolucida Critical Mass 2018, among others. He currently teaches at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
