La serie de 36 collages yuxtapone guardas jaspeadas de diarios de viaje, atlas, y otros manuscritos que datan del siglo dieciocho, con fotografías encontradas de rocas erráticas. El título remite a la idea de un cuerpo errante y sugiere un sedimento irregular. Más precisamente, se refiere al término geológico de una roca que difiere del resto de las formaciones que la rodean y se cree que ha sido llevada ahí por movimientos glaciales. Esta idea de desplazamiento y resistencia al tiempo se evidencia también con las guardas que han sido removidas de sus libros originales. Los patrones decorativos de éstas son confrontados por las imágenes de rocas simples, contraponiendo el exceso estético con la austeridad desnuda.
The series of 36 collages juxtaposes marbled endpapers taken from voyage journals, atlases, and other manuscripts from the late 1700s to the early 1800s, with found photographs of erratic boulders. The title indicates the notion of a wandering body and suggests a sediment irregular in pattern. Correspondingly -and more precisely- it refers to the geological term of a boulder that differs from the surrounding rock and is believed to have been brought from a distance by glacial action. While associations of displacement and resistance to time surface between the set of pages that have been removed from their original volumes and the out-of-place geological formations, the decorative patterns are confronted by the images of mere rocks, counterpoising the overly aestheticized with the austere naked simplicity.
Biografía:
Estudió Arquitectura en la Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas y se graduó de Artes Plásticas en la Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes Corriente Alterna. En el 2010 recibió su Maestría en Bellas Artes en Goldsmiths College, Londres. Su trabajo ha sido presentado en: el Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía C3A (2022), Dhaka Art Summit (2020), DePaul Art Museum (2020), MOCO Montpellier Contemporain (2020), Museu Coleção Berardo, Lisboa (2019), la Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna, Roma (2019), la Bienal de Gwangju (2016), Museo Amparo (Puebla, 2016), entre otros. Su obra se encuentra en colecciones internacionales como la del Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary Collection, Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, Museo Tamayo, PAMM Pérez Art Museum Miami, Kadist Art Foundation, Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation, Kamel Lazaar Foundation, y FOLA Fototeca Latinoamericana. Obtuvo la Beca y Comisión a Artista Emergente de la Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation CIFO (2016), entre otros premios y distinciones. Actualmente vive y trabaja en Lima.

She received the commission grant for emerging artists given by the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation CIFO (2016), among other awards and distinctions. She currently lives and works in Lima.
